Use Case :
A Telecom Company wanted to provide their subscribed customers, by which, they could pay their mobile as well as telephone bills through SMS. The idea was to reduce the amount of time spent in collection of bills and also reducing the hassles for customers who had to go to the gallery or drop boxes to pay the bills.
How they did it?
1) The users were asked to register online with their details and credit card information. Each user was given one userID and password so that they could edit the details when required.
2) On the due date a SMS notification was sent to them giving the bill details.
3) To pay, they had to reply with “Pay” abs text.
4) As the mobile number was the primary key, an authorization of user was done at the company’s DB and then the user’s credit card information was picked.
5) The system then sent the credit card information to the payment gateway for authorization.
6) Once the authentication done and amount debited, information goes to the Company’s Database.
7) A notification alert would be then sent to the user giving them the confirmation of bill paid.
8) At the end of the month, if the customer didn’t receive a message intimating his bill details, he could pull the bill details by sending a SMS to the Telecom company. He would get the bill details and could respond to it by typing “Pay” to pay the bills.
This system generated a tremendous response among the customer as they could pay their bills anytime anywhere by just sending an SMS. |
